My 12u DD made the switch last spring. It took her most of the spring TB season to get comfortable with the change. The main improvement I seen almost immediately was the increase in velocity. She picked up 8mph over 2 1/2 months. She struggled with accuracy for a pretty good while but not to the point where she was wild. I think that frustrated her the most because she was extremely accurate pitching H/E but only because she was pushing the ball through her release. Almost like she was handing the ball to the catcher. At the end of Spring we decided to let her take a break for a month and hit it hard again afterwards. We are now about 2 months back into it and everything has just clicked. She is pitching with way more accuracy and has picked up another 3mph. I can assure you it was well worth the time investment. Sometimes you have to take one step backwards to be able to take 10 forwards.

What happens if your young pitcher is being or has been taught HE? How hard is this to change to "IR" later on? *

* I'm sure this is stated somewhere in the thread but it's getting quite long and didn't want to look through all of it again.

not hard if your pitcher is just beginning to pitch. a little harder if HE is ingrained. my 12yo DD moved away from HE (1 year +). was rough to start IR but the results were well-worth the difficulty.

Thank You for your post! My dd was taught HE for 2 years before I found this forum. first I taught myself to pitch with I/R using your drills. Then I tried to introduced it to my dd, She wanted nothing to do with it! I found a pc that teaches I/R and my dd really clicked with her, but its been a very hard transition for her! Shes 13 and has progressed a lot since embracing I/R. she still has a long way to go. your drills have helped her so much Thank You!

DD frustraited with speed

I have a 15 year old dd which is struggling. She is discouraged with her speed .She is very small for her age 5 feet 2 and 100 pounds. She has never went to pitching coach as I have taught her and has only been pitching for about a year she maxes out speed wise at about 49 throws but throws consistently at 46-47. With a girl her size what could be the realistic max speed she would be able to obtain any how. She is an IR pitcher and is very consistent on the plate. Is there anything in her IR or mechanics that could be tweaked that I do not know about I can upload videos if needed.

Thanks for any response.

After reading threw a few of pitching threads here I find I have to read it six times to get it . I found this video informative on how IR is different than HE.

Where are we going? Maybe you confused me with someone else with a similar name but I am just trying to understand all this to help my DD. This video kind of made a little sense to me. If its incorrect please feel free to share. Just not sure why the snide remark.
