I understand what your saying. That may very well be all that is wrong. Sorry I didn't have the playsport with me.A comment I wanted to make in a couple of other threads is that not everything is mechanics. I thought some people chimed in with mechanics fixes for problems I personally wasn't even seeing.
Mechanics are important and probably just about everyone can improve, but some times I look at problems like this and I say, "I see a hitter who hit the ball off the end of the bat." That's all.
So yeah maybe post a vid and work some mechanics but for someone your daughters age maybe just do some "thinking" batting practice. Pitch to her and every single time she misses the ball she should be thinking, or telling you, whether she swung over or under the ball. Every ball she hits she should think or tell you where on the bat she hit it.
There are also Pujols training bats that only have a sweet spot, the rest of the bat is missing, but I haven't used them. But I understand why they exist, with the super fancy bats today too many kids just have bat laziness and don't think about getting the sweet spot on the ball.
It is hard to tell for certain but the catcher appears to be set up outside, and if your dd is making contact out front as pic 2 shows it will be on the end of the bat. She needs to add more pelvic tilt to go out and get the ball or be a split second more patient and let the ball get deeper and send it to the right side.
Also in pic two it shows her shoulders way ahead of her hips.... At contact her hip and shoulder angles, if reversed would put more sweet spot on the ball IMO. Work on keeping shoulders from firing so soon....I tell my DD to imagine her left side of ribcage as a rubber band and let the hips rotate before the shoulders and "stretch" the rubber band in the rib cage before rotation of the shoulders begins.
From what I see , it looks as if her hips are "spinning" out way too quickly and it only leaves a small portion of the barrel in the hitting zone.
The ball was over the plate, but kinda outer part. She does so well in practice, but in a game seems to be very reserved in using her lower body. Seems like she is waiting too late to start.
I see it.Please elaborate how to teach her not to pull her shoulder out on a pitch down the middle. She actually does well on inside and outside pitches, but seems to over rotate on pitches down the middle. The hips should lead the swing. The arms need to stay connected (don't arm swing, IOW). She may be trying to hit the ball too far out front. Practice a lot of long tee with the tee placed inside the front foot (deeper in the zone).
Put a few strips of adhesive tape around the sweet spot and have her hit the ball on the tape. It will leave a mark on the tape every time she is successful.
But the main thing, she needs to keep her lead shoulder from flying open.
