Thank you makes a lot of sense about never moving them back or forward in the box, but it still does not answer my question about what is meant by letting the pitch come deep? Can anyone specifically answer what it means by letting the pitch come deep? Does it mean move up closer toward the pitcher in the batters box and wait till the ball comes in deeper with the pitch to them? Or do they move back in the box allowing the pitch to come deep and they then swing at the pitch in front of them?

It means letting the ball get to you. Easier said than done for girls that are geared up for fast pitching. As I said in an earlier post, if the girls crowd the plate the effect will be to create more pitches that are inside. The inside pitch needs to be hit out in front more, meaning you have to be quicker. Basically, crowding the plate creates the effect of speeding up the pitch.

If that doesn't work, huddle the girls up outside the dugout, look them in the eye and tell them to "hit the ball instead of the pitcher". IOW, they're not hitting the pitcher, they're hitting a big yellow ball. Wait on the big yellow ball and hit the dang thing. I've had good luck with that when all else fails.
