Yes it can be positive. In fact, training guidelines for kids under the age of 12 is to train overall athleticism; not sport-specific. In other words, you would train a figure skater, a softball player, a football player and a gymnast exactly the same way from a physical conditioning standpoint trying to improve what we call the ABCs...
Agility, Balance, Coordination, Speed.
So this is excellent. You want to develop good overall athlete - not just softball player especially at an early age.
