alot of mixed views on this tool ! I wonder if it would just be good to use on one arm drills?

The only way I could see it doing anything good (or at least not bad) is off of a tee where the tee is set very deep in the stance.

I would not use it off of front or soft toss.

I find myself in an odd position of siding with CO on this one. I'm not much into gadgetry or gimmicktry. I don't see the advantage of using this device, but then I will admit I never used it, because I've never needed to.

Mike Candrea:
“The insider bat is a tremendous teaching tool to create the proper feel of staying inside the ball and releasing the angles we create in hitting. We use it for top hand and bottom hand drills! I love the elements of instant feedback and proper feel that it gives hitters of all ages!”

Don Slaught:
“I highly recommend the insider bat. Very rarely do you come across a training aide that is easy to use and takes so little instruction. Immediately when the hitter picks up the insider bat his mind starts calculating the necessary swing path to hit the ball squarely.”

Dr. Tom House (USC Trojans Baseball):
The Insider Bat is proving to be a great personal swing coach for our athletes. It helps program every hitter’s swing path to be in the proper position at the right time to maximize his unique contact efficiencies.

That’s a “home run” for player and instructor at any level of competition.

The product has a decent list of testimonials.

Do you use this product on students, If so I would... like everyone else be very interested in seeing a video of it, and not a paid add from a company trying to push a product. I have never seen it used with any success, From what we have been taught by Candrea the tool dosent work, he may have promoted it but I think it was more a business transaction than a true testimonial.
I would go out on a limb and say that you and Howard have a better chance of agreeing on something than this tomato stake being of any value besides a correction tool for overbearing parents .

This what we have Learned from Candrea and there is no way it would allow her to get into position to hit

YouTube - Walk Thru Hitting Drill

I look forward to seeing your videos

Boulder ... people like Mike value their reputation, and wouldn't carelessly throw it aside to promote a product like the IB bat. Of all people, Mike strikes me as a person of high integrity.

I'm not following your comment about the walk-up drill that you learned from Mike. How is it that this doesn't allow 'her' to get into a position to hit? If it works for the person performing the demo, then why doesn't it work for 'her'?

What are you trying to imply about the gender of his student?

I have used the insider bat with my two dds and i agree with Chris that the insider bat will work better hitting off a tee that is set deep in the stance,
i have found that if i try to soft toss or front toss my girls will start to hit around the ball and pull everything. But i will say the insider bat seemed to help my older daughter with top hand roll over in other words in my opinion useing the IB will help prevent premature top hand roll over.

Because of the bend in the shaft, the fact that they are pulling everything means that they are swinging well.

A big old pull hook would be exactly what you would expect.

The problem arises if they try to straighten the ball out and hit it back up the middle. Then they will have to disconnect and do other problematic things.

Please view this with the humor it is intended to bring.

Just because someone endorses a product and claims how wonderful it is and someone does not agree that it is as marvelous as it is claimed to be or has an opposing view on hitting mechanics, does not mean they should be labeled a heretic or burned at the stake or risk excommunication from any self proclaimed hitting gurus or sites!.

ROME, Feb. 17— In 1992, 359 years after condemning Galileo as a heretic, the Vatican apologized and admitted the astronomer had a point.

Go back a few years and you will see a huge change in Coach Candrea’s teachings and what he believed gospel back then! I hope Galileo is resting more comfortably now also.

Excommunication (Latin ex, out of, and communio or communicatio, communion — exclusion from the communion), the principal and severest censure, is a medicinal, spiritual penalty that deprives the guilty hitting guru of all participation in the common teachings of the hitting societies and internet chat rooms. Being a penalty, it supposes guilt; and being the most serious penalty that the self proclaimed hitting gurus can inflict, it naturally supposes a very grave offence if someone disagrees with such product endorsements or methods which others have had success that actually teach living students. It is also a medicinal rather than a vindictive penalty, being intended, not so much to punish the culprit, as to correct him and bring him back to the path of righteousness even though video can not prove the methods to be incorrect or the product did not actually work as intended although the royalty checks were cashed for product endorsements.

Perhaps for another thread but is anyone certain that isolation one arm drills actually help. Is it better perhaps to do two arm drills slowly and talking about the work of each arm in context to a real swing and grip. Sometimes I think that one arm drills may be a waste of time since the feel of the bat changes and the ability to creat a cetain move and path dramatically changes when influenced by a second hand. Thoughts?
