I took out all the duplicate frames. The swing is allot smoother without all the extra frames.

This is like the Cabrera clip where they say the shoulders coil. Very smooth and natural coil of the shoulders. The hand/shoulders coil as he moves out.

Hands and shoulders coil? What does this mean? Can you show me where this coil happens? Great swing, effortless

Julray,

The shoulders start pre coiled, or counter rotated. The front shoulder then moves down and in "slightly", it's not a huge move as this clip shows. You could say he is walking away from the hands.

The front shoulder moves down and in toward the rear hip, compressing the spring while the back shoulder and front hip lengthens, stretching the spring (hiding the hands stretches and lengthens the shoulder to front hip distance, you could say the scap is retracted). The entire torso creates the spring and not just one side as the clip of Pujols shows that is floating around. The body works as one thing happening.

There is "no" shoulder counter rotation, there is "to much" and then there is "just right". You want "some", but like anything it can be over down or not enough.

Edit: Looking at this clip it looks like JD is pre-set and then stretching the shoulder/arm against his move out. Walking away from the hands.

JD's head moves a lot in that clip. What do you think of that?

I don't think it moves that much. I've seen more head movement forward AND down in very good hitters. If you put the cursor on JD's head, he really isn't moving it very much. Head movement before toe touch/heel plant is Ok. You don't want head movement after foot plant.

Pay attention to the pre-swing actions. Those actions allow one to get into a fyb hitting position dynamically.. I view it as a soft oblique contraction synced up with the hands. Coming out of these actions is what allows the other movements to happen naturally yet be reactive.

Yes it doesn't matter how much, the movememt isn't huge. In this clip he has more shoulder tilt down. Some have more down, some back/in, I think you should have both, down and in.

Joey Myers sees it as part of the spinal engine. The downward tilting of the shoulders, lateral tilt. It's one of spinal engine directions/movements. You could say he is scrunching the front side (shoulder to front hip, besides front shoulder to back hip), tilting the shoulders downward. Which is compressing the front shoulder to back hip.

Great clip of showing the tilting downwards.
