Back on the dirt...
Would love to see a video of someone using this technique and crushing a riseball at the top of the zone.

IDK if this was a poke at the drill or genuine but Ive def seen some do it. Top of the zone is right at arm level. Not hard to get to top of zone. Getting tricked in to one out of the zone is likely though.

If she continues forward and not down she is in the zone.

Not a poke at the drill. I am a pitching guy. I admit I may not understand it but it just seems like the barrel is often below the hands, which would lead me to attach the top of the zone. The hitters I have seen with this technique seem to kill the ball low in the zone but struggle up top. Thoughts?

The technique/feel which is being demonstrated is just to make sure you are turning the barrel with your hands/forearms behind you (right side of the body for a rightie) vs powering it with your arms and pushing (along with proper coiling etc but the demos are just the barrel turn). As Eric said the amount of tilt and hence the "plane" that the barrel will take (and where the hands are in relation to the barrel) will depend on the pitch location. Many hitters (Trout for example) have a hole in their swing up in the zone regardless so pitching up in the zone is a good idea no matter whether they are doing what is demonstrated or not. Of course a good hitter will know this and lay off your stinkin riseball. Proper mechanics (which some believe to be what is shown in the demos along with some other things) allow for a hitter to wait longer to decide to swing and lay off that lousy, good for nothing riseball ;)

As a pitcher, do you see a lot of hitters with their Barrel above their hands, ....yikes? As a pitcher I did not... and if I did, low outside drop ball would = instant strike out every time. Of course you can throw that pitch for a strike at the knees.. rise ball up above the hitters hands would be a ball unless the batter swung at it.

Barrel shouldn't really get above the hands. A great top-of-zone riseball is tough to hit regardless, but I'd need quick, tight hands to hit it - which is in part what this feels promotes. Better to wait for a mistake :)
