I have a 9 year old needing a new bat. She currently uses a 28” 15 oz. Storm.
Her hitting coach suggested using a -11 - -12.. I need suggestions on the best bats for this age without breaking the bank! (29”).

Really like the demarini bustos as a good entry level bat for this age group. It's a 29 -13, a used one will be less than 75. If you want a drop 11 and she's a more serious player a used demarini CF anything or LS will do. Young kids at that age rarely break bats as long as they are kept warm so buying used is the way to go unless your your kid is just a beast

For many years Bustos swung what many here would consider a slow-pitch bat ... she wanted the extra mass. Putting her name on an ultra-light bat seems like a gimmick and money grab to me.

I ask the young hitters that I work with to upgrade to at least a drop 10. I have little interest in working with young hitters that need their swing subsidized because they wish to power their swing with their arms.

I tend to side with FFS on this one..most kids can swing a heavier bat then what everybody expects them to be able to in particular if their mechanics are decent. My 9YO is fairly tall 4'9" but fairly light 70 lbs and swings a 31 drop 10 with
not much of an issue and her mechanics are less than perfect. That said a 29" drop 11 should be ok, as suggested by the hitting instructor. I would suggest you take a look on ebay. You can
find new (previous year models) and used Demarinis, LS, Eastons etc for very nice prices on there.
