What does the top hand do? What do you think when you hear somebody say " more top hand or stronger top hand" and they demonstrate a karate like punch. What percentage of the swings power comes from a strong top hand? What muscles contribute the most power in a HL swing?

This is a golf video but is there anything that might transfer to the softball swing?

My opinion is that the primary job of the top hand is to get out of the way and let the lead hand wrist work as intended while staying inside the ball (turn the barrel). Secondarily, not in importance just timing, the top hands function is to provide a strong foundation for the bat at contact. Just my $.015

These guys may disagree.....Top hand doesn't just 'get out of the way'. JMHO.

Are you stronger pushing a car or pulling a car? Is the bottom hand stronger trying to pull across the body or is the top hand stronger in a pushing action?

Besides obvious strength points, I've had problems trying to help the pulling of the front side/lead arm.

The top hand is active in TTB. OK, some speed/power comes from TTB. But once the barrel is turned, is the top hand being pushed or pulled? or both? Does the overactive top hand increase the hand radius and tighten muscles making the swivel/release less effective thus slowing the bat down? (see golf video)

I've recently been looking at top hand dominate swings and hands inside the ball. With my question of how short is too short? They create a smaller impact zone out front, compared to getting on plane earlier in the swing and let the big muscles to create the power in the swing.
