Shawn, just a lil sumpin', sumpin' to try....

Put the bat directly out in front of you at chest height as TM demos, and do the forward/back supination/pronation thing he does...the bat/barrel should go straight front to back...a towards the pitcher, directly back towards the catcher kind of thing.

Now as you're doing that, move your hands up, and back to the position that AJ has them in the clip, and see which the direction the bat/barrel now goes...w/o you having changed the movement in your hands, wrists, or forearms.

Is the bat/barrel still going forward and back, pitcher to catcher...or is it going forward, and back from roughly the front of one batter's box to the rear of the other?

Try it, and see if that changes anything IYO.

I've never heard anyone explain it like that. If I combine slotting with the movement then it is more like Judge.

Back on the dirt...
AND when you add in torso rotation/leg rotation/hip rotation (which ever you prefer to call it, I’m sure I will get called out by someone for not saying the right terms) you get a nice barrel turn into swing launch.

It took me a while to feel it but it is fast and powerful and offers a very late decision process (adjustability) to launch the swing.

I do at times think TM overcooks the snap back action but it does get the point across. And once its tied into the lower half, it really has a good feel.
IMO.

It is absolutely the feel/thought of snapping the barrel downwards. From an energy production standpoint the swing is over once the barrel is snapped downwards. The direction is of utmost importance, but the visual result will be different than the intention due to moving parts like the rear leg. The direction needs to be just outside the rear elbow for the initial snap.

The bottom of the swing arc will/should be before contact. What is getting a lot of hitters in trouble is being taught that swinging up is the cat's rear. Ball compression is best while swinging with a down mentality.

You cannot snap down quickly enough assuming you are coiled/stretched correctly and have an end goal (hitting a ball coming at you).

I wouldn't classify as slotting but the direction is important. Too much pure supination will produce more out and around than what is optimal. There is a certain degree of rear wrist abduction coupled with supination. The lead wrist pronates. This is the way the knob will laser the ball and keep the hands on a direct approach which produces an "out from" the body approach. The rear elbow will end up "slotting" from the barrel movement produced.

how did you find that link on his twitter account? I would like to see the corner and the other video he did as well.

Figured I'd save you the trouble of having to wade through some of the petty arguing that goes in his feed sometimes. For some
reason it appears the first periscope he did isn't available anymore.
