My DD is a no stride hitter. IMO one major thing you have to watch out for is lack of separation. I am a stride hitter and when I tried to demonstrate separation to my DD using a no stride approach I had a lot of difficulty because I started to display an "all back, all forward" type movement. With that being said, no stride has been very good for my DD. Keeps things a little more simplified IMO

DD's finger was broken while batting which is why she went to no stride, she was bailing out too much.

She was playing with a splint on her broken finger.

She has just stuck to it ever since.

I use to coach a team at a very low level, no stride was very very helpful for those hitters who bailed out

The case can be made the hand/rear hip separation that some (many?) call necessary is not really where it is at. Getting a rear hip coil and then stretching
your upper and lower back behind that hip coil (corner) is probably the most important part (along with using the hands/forearms, and not the arms, to turn the barrel from a coiled/stretched position) Those who stride may increase that stretch by continuing to pull back as they move out and hence develop the separation between
hands and rear hip. Looking at the Pujols clip that Shawn posted you can kind of see that. Nomar does have the hand rear hip separation but it is mainly due to his hand
set (he does stretch it a bit more as pulls back a bit after he lifts up his knee).
