There are some girls that look like the greatest hitter on earth on a Tee but put them in a live game throwing 60+ mph and movement and they just strike out.

Approach? Mental? 60+ w/movement is pretty darn good. Could be lack of live hitting or simply seeing live pitching?

1. Moving object is harder to hit than stationary
2. Game nerves
3. Lack of hitting approach
4. Inability to make the mental transfer into a game scenario

I had a hitter like that tonight. Told her that her swing was effective on a tee, but wouldn't work well against a live arm. After proving my point we settled in and learned to make swings that would work against live pitching.

It's why I recommend that people don't make a diet out of tee swings.

Hitter controls 100% of their timing off a tee...pitcher controls x% of the hitter's timing that the hitter's good (less %) or bad (greater %) mechanics allow for.

I am not anti-tee. They have their place and are useful in certain contexts. However, it has always been my belief that practicing off a tee will make you a good hitter...off a tee. Many people practice mechanics, but if you are not doing a high percentage of that practice off a moving ball, you are missing the most important aspect of those mechanics.
