Im curious about the hip rotation... Is it a result of the FSR or is it a forced effort to rotate? Thoughts?

No, ( I am answering for my James) But does the front leg instinctually / naturally resist in most athletes. And how do you teach it and could it be over taught?

two more question FFS. Do you ever teach contact position so that the hitter is aware of optimal. Do you see Donaldson's front leg straighten then immediately relax/ bend?

I read coach james as saying that with internal rotation of the lead leg "into the hip socket" will create an inward/rearward movement or "rotation" of the pelvic girdle which is somewhat correct...but needs a lot of leeway or a lot more words of explanation as to all of the other factors to make it an actual, complete true statement.

But in the few words he used, and with a little imagination, I'm OK with the general idea of his statement. IOWs, the lead leg can/does "assist" in creating rearward rotation of the PG "around" the rear leg....IMO.
