Lower pitch same barrel path,
5frames,
That's the thing about this swing, is it's a high inside pitch. The hands can make room for the inside pitch, slide forward a little. I'm just curious if anyone thinks this a good barrel path to teach? Or is this just something that happens via pitch location and someone said this is the way to swing a bat.
What do you guys/gals think about the barrel path in this swing? Does the barrel stay above the hands that far into the swing, knob reaching front hip, or is this just an optical illusion because of the angle of the camera?
One of my first videos I purchased was Dave Hudgens and he said the knob reached the front hip with the barrel still above the hands/shoulder. Is this just style? Meaning does this method work?
Hudgen says the barrel path happens out front, meaning the barrel doesn't get on plane or begin to arc upwards/path of the ball until out front. He said that the barrel didn't arc behind the shoulder/body which is being taught today,
I always liked Tewks' view on this topic. He talks about swinging on the "back side" or "right side" of the body as illustrated in this picture.
But he does concede that for an inside pitch (as your clip demonstrates), the hands may work towards the middle.
