I do not speak to my hitters of horizontal hip rotation.
When you speak of resisting rotation, what is actively taking place?
When I speak of resisting rotation, I am referring to the left side of the body resisting for a RH hitter. To demonstrate the feeling I will have my DD set up in her stance and hold her left arm straight out going towards the left handed batters box. I tell her to take her right hand and orient it to a palm up position. Then ask her to drive her hand underneath the elbow of the left arm while trying to maintain the positioning of the left arm. Which causes the resistance I speak of.
When done properly I feel the left shoulder and the left lat being raised due to the right side of the body somewhat bulldozing it’s way through. It also gives the feeling of the left shoulder getting underneath the right shoulder.
I have somewhat of the same feeling that Bergman spoke of. How he wants the hands and arms to feel like they are ahead of his bodies rotation. I also seen video of Tiger Woods talking about this feeling also. I feel that if one can resist the initial move of the right side when the transition of the barrel takes place it is like a snap of the left shoulder instead of an active rotation.
I hope that makes sense??
