I’m not a huge fan of the demo, but you did good work. She is on the right track.

In the demo the hands do not work independently, they follow the hip/leg rotation “around”. But she definitely increased her barrel depth.

I would have her do the same high tee swing she is doing but have her try to keep her back heel on the ground as long as she could, don’t just let the rear leg spin. She will start to feel a stretch she hasn’t felt before.

Keep up the good work

I don't quite understand the underlined portion you suggested here. Could you give a little more explanation here? Thanks

Maybe. In my experience, young hitters often have trouble feeling stretch.

12u working to not allow the rear leg to spin. Snap stop w/ extension. Wall as a restraint

Wouldn't this cause a child to start leading with the upper in front of the lower half? I was under the impression that the lower half is what gets the swing going

I just want to add something to this thread, completely irrelevant to the topic. This young girl is doing exceptionally well. It's obvious she takes instruction extremely well. As she hits growth spurts, she will regress at times. All of the things she's learned may fall apart. She will also be flooded with hormones, which will change her "feelings" on so many things. Don't get frustrated, just find a way to continue to work with her. I still remember hitting growth spurts and literally tripping over my feet. Everything I'd learned had to be relearned, at times. This will be no different. I think the largest thing is to tell her about this. When you're swinging at a moving object, and all of a sudden that object is 2" further away than before, everything you've learned CAN fall apart. Then, deal with the feelings you're now feeling, beware! I talked to my daughter, in depth, about this stuff so it's never been a real issue. I think this is one thing a coach and parent can help a student with.

Hands are the trigger, they start the unloading. Pivot points work together. The key is the barrel turns REARWARD, that allows the leg to snap, and the barrel to get behind the pulling rear leg.

Love her swing! Her rear knee gets back over her rear foot, as you put it, because she's set up slightly bow-legged. Have her widen out slightly and turn the rear foot inward (see the rear foot position of the hitter Spartans21 posted above). This will help her tighten her coil rather than (a little bit of it) leaking out over her leg/foot.

As for 'next' do what she's doing now but have her work on a 12-6 handturn so she doesn't swing around her body but rather out-from her body and she can use that swing plane plus tilt to be able to get to pitches high to low in the zone.

I like this swing clip. Good plug for "short to". Not exactly sure what you mean by 'trigger' ... I personally use my torso to "twitch at the ball".

Yeah I love that clip.

I'm a rear leg pulls kind of guy. The stretch is the rear leg vs the upper. Torque the barrel rearward, leg wins. Pulls.

I know we see different things in the same clip.....
