watching MLB games as of late,
I frequently notice several batters that keep their index fingers off the bat handle while in their stance awaiting the pitch.
I'm curious what this is attempting to promote in the swing?
an over compensation to prevent gripping the bat too tightly (combatting pre-swing tension)?
to promote more turning force to emanate from the other three fingers of each hand? (and why is this advantageous?)
allow the hands to stack together more closely? (tighter pivot point, perhaps?)
???
Just wondering.
Thanks for your replies...
