I know people teach firing the barrel different but IMO the hands are connected to your back shoulder no matter how you teach turning the barrel or firing the barrel. What do you think about turning your shoulders or tilt as your timing? Just thinking again.

Some believe that the hands are connected to the body's rotation through the front shoulder ... and they are correct.

IMO, if the hands are left behind the turn them it's bat drag. Now I think it can connect different ways and it's a feel for the hitter. I have always taught the stretch is the timing but now thinking the turn maybe a better timing que. Thoughts

As folks watch elite hitters, take note of the relationship between the lead shoulder and the barrel.

Note that as the lead shoulder lifts that the barrel head lowers ... and as the lead shoulder is rotated away the barrel is rotated towards the incoming pitch. Note the opposite action.

It isn't that one is actively 'trying' to rotate their shoulders, but that the active torso/hip-engine is rotating the shoulders. As the torso/hip-engine engages, the 'up & out rotation' of the torso will 'elevate & move the lead lat forward' ... this lead late movement will 'pull' on the lead-arm.

Those that speak of the lead-side pulling have a valid point ... and they are technically correct. The torso/hip-engine should embed this action ... otherwise the torso/hip-engine action is for 'not' ... and falling short of what is desired.

Not only does the torso/hip-engine pull (adducts) the rear upper arm ... it also pulls the front upper arm.

As one 'moves out' they are in a sense preparing their torso to 'pull'.

In a very real sense, good hitters have an instinct of timing with their torso.
