My daughter is 8u coach pitch. She does a sort of pre-stride to stride. Is this something that I should look to possibly change?

I would, her timing is off.

Can not tell from video but I would quess she strides when P starts their motion, she needs to wait a little bit.

Changes but if coach pitch hopefully some what consistent. Wait until till P at 12:00 or ball does not seem P is thrown very fast, maybe until ball is released.

If she has the luxury she should figure try it out in on deck circle.

I guess her timing is a little off. She hits consistently this way. Mostly up the middle or pull, sometimes the other way. The coach actually pitches pretty guick. Definitely not a high arcing slow pitch like a lot of coaches do in coach pitch.

She is losing her power though, it will eventually come back to haunt her.

DD does no stride heal drop. Not saying that is or not the way to go but might work for your DD.

I will might try that the next batting session she does. I thought about telling her to just pick her foot up and put it down since, that's essentially what she does when she actually starts her swing.

My DD as well. Works for her because she thinks too much at the plate. Keeping it simple seems to do the trick for her

Welcome to DFP. Enjoy the ride! :)

My first impression is that the pre-stride is a movement that she was instructed to do, and the secondary stride is her natural movement. She may not even be aware that she's doing both. I would approach this by showing her the video and asking about why she does the two movements. She might have a reason...or she might not. "I don't know" is perfectly acceptable at this point.
