Between toe touch heel plant the hip and shoulders reach peak dissociation, stretching the connection tissue across the elastic region of the torso.

What are your thoughts on the kinetic link and hip/shoulder separation? When does the separation happen IYO? This quote suggests that it happens during the linear engine and the linear action ends at heel plant.

Hosmer talks about timing his separation to hit. Not his hips. Not his front foot. He wants to feel his 'stretch' on time with the pitcher. When he creates his separation on time( forward move with walking away from his hands) he feels he is at his best. You time your sequence ( separation ) to the ball. I mostly agree with your quote.

So to answer your question Shawn. I feel it starts on the move out and ends when the hands start to go forward.

His barrel path is not something I teach because I coach fastpitch where almost all pitches are level and or 'rising' not dropping. An on top mentality is best I feel for softball.

Ps. Had a USA player/all American at my tryouts last weekend. She has played for a few top notch programs. Hitting prowess is not something all programs have she exclaimed to me. It wasn't a shocker. Kinda disappointing. She said Clint Meyers and staff know what there doing . :)

That is a good answer, the stretching feeling starts early and doesn't end at a specific time. You are always loading.

Always loading, but is the same thing loading or has the loading shifted to other places ? And does the things that were loaded stay loaded ?

Please explain how this represents a 'linear engine' and 'linear action'. I see the swing as rotational to linear ... and the segment I perceive you to be describing is 'rotational' IMO.

Let me get back to you on this one. They do call it a linear engine before the rotational engine.
