Went to a 12u game and 18u game. In general, I thought the 12uers had better swing mechanics and hit the ball harder than 18uers. The 12u game (7 innings) had no walks and only 3 or 4 Ks and the defense was spectacular. The 18u game had multiple walks and Ks. The 18 u players seemed like they were just trying to make contact with short armsy swings. Kinda slappy swings (not much coil) with a lot of weak fly balls. I don't know why, just what i observed.

Also both 18u teams had slappers that were basically impossible to throw out if they got it on the ground. Both teams also employed some crazy defensive shifts against slappers.

Harder for their weight /size. They (12u) in general drove the ball. Furthest ball was by 12u player. She was robbed of a HR in straight away CF. There was one HR in 18u game and it was opposite field flare that drifted out.

Ok, maybe the 12U team was really good and the 18U team not so much. Not sure what point you are trying to make..

As others mentioned - it may have just been a good 12U game v a bad 18U game - just because it is PGF doesn't mean there aren't some awful teams there. My friends 12U team won games 12-0 and 15-0 in pool play last year.

However, if it not the case, it is certainly much easier to look like you have a good swing against a 45mph straight fastball (or as the 12U pitchers parent calls it 'a 55mph curving riseball') than a genuine 58-65mph pitch that actually moves.

No 2nd baseman and no right fielder

If you can't do anything but slap-bunt and your best hit is a ground ball to SS, have no doubt I will field everyone in the infield. I will also play a fielder in front of my 1B and my best 1B will field on the bag ready to catch whatever dribbler the slapper hits.

We played last years PGF champions in Colorado in a practice game. They can flat out rake. (I believe the are 18’s this year) And the third base coach used some very DFP hitting forum type language to communicate with hitters.
