Thanks both FFS and RD. I believe dd does get to that position at contact. I’m going to look at some game pics and I should be able to tell quickly. BTW we like to self toss base balls and hit with LS woodies- it’s especially fun since I’m lefty shes righty so we can stand on opposite sides of the bucket and rip balls. Total blast and good things come of it.

WW ... just a follow-up comment. Some people here take it to a bit of an unhealthy level IMO and "get behind the ball" in a 'Vee orientation'. Myself, I want a goal of getting behind the ball in an 'L orientation' ... no matter if it is pitched 'inside' or 'outside'.

Get behind the ball in a turn.

Be short ... a common cue among pros ... a cue that Bonds himself considered important ... a cue that when combined with getting behind the ball in a turn ... and developing bad speed with the creation of a corner ... will lead to what some refer to as being 1-legged.

Point here is ... I consider getting behind the ball in a 'Vee orientation' to be overcooked. Can it happen in a game swing? Sure ... but it shouldn't be the norm IMO or a goal. Instead "hit through the L". Get behind the ball regardless of location.
