Not here.
RD, you have me all wrong. I am not trying to have a confrontation. I just wanted to talk hitting.

No biggy. I removed the gifs I could. 2 posters came to my 'aide'(Eric &FFS) when breezy/left hook and a lot of other user names he seems to have. Was trying to have his way with me. Others seems to smell blood in the water. I know I'm a minus the RDB and you get.....
It is what I is.....

You may not 'currently' have any students. But you do have a DD playing ball at the school of her choice. That's good enough for me...

Rdb ... I assume you know this ... but if you don't, then let be clear ... I appreciate you posting here.

I recall back when you were a bit thin skinned ... even a bit tepid to post at places like BBD. I just assumed that your skin thickened up over the years ... as that does seem to have the affect on some of us. You are here for right reason ... to help spread information ... and hence you can sleep well at night ... because your goal is pure ... simply to make the world a better place.

We have all seen the gurus come and go, The Howard Carriers and the Charlie Laus of the world, Some of their instruction has been proved to be NOT SO GOOD.

The latest guru seem to be Richard Schenck, His snap the barrel rearward and his supination are all the craze right now

My findings:

Rich Schenck advocates a supination of the top hand and forearm, What I found is trying to relay this info to a youth is very difficult, What they end up doing is laying the bat down and getting a much steeper angle than desired. The wrist and forearms should not supinate before adduction, The wrist I should say should not supinate.

The top wrist should remain strong. The hitters I worked with all had a upper cut swing and I feeling of being back on their rear leg such an extreme that they felt as if they were spinning out on the rear leg. The barrel works down to the ball. But on an upward incline and contact is made as the elbow is working up to the front shoulder.

The focus on sending the barrel rearward is causing problems also. The angle is to steep and they tend to supinate the top hand wrist which causes the barrel to flatten and get extremely long to the ball. Faster pitching up and in eats them alive when they do this.

You should not force supination of focus on it, You should not focus on being 1 legged or focus on it,

My findings are the rear heel is usually off the ground just before launch. Is this not a sign of the rear leg being unweighted?

Adduction and lateral tilt are happening before supination.

Conclusion: Focus on being 1 legged and supinating at launch is wrong.

Launch is not supination, Supination is not launch.

Kids that I worked with got much better results not focusing on the steep barrel..not focusing on supinating the top hand.

We obtained better results with the feeling of staying above the ball and the wrist remaining strong and being reactive after launch.

Not swinging down...not chopping but a feeling of taking the bat down to the ball. Not focusing on " SNAP " of the barrel rearward and swinging over the wall. The barrels simply got to steep that way!

Possibly this works for kids over 16 Im not sure

Not really fair to call teacherman a twitter coach. He seems to travel the land getting paid a pretty penny for his services. Many of the adults/kids he works with directly or implement his teachings seem to be pretty good.

If you are talking about Five, I'm not surprised. He is a very nice man and an excellent teacher. The passion, intensity and subject he brings to a lesson is something special. I wish my DD could spend more time with him.
I was talking about the whole situation of an obvious name changing troll going after a member who has contributed a lot of good things here and elsewhere...and somehow thought this place might be different from one I left a while back just because of the same of what I just saw here. I'll leave it at that for now.

EDIT: For future reference, if I'm ever addressing or "talking about" a specific member or post, I'll quote the member or specific post as I did here, rather than making just a general comment or observation wrt something as I did last night with that gif. That is all...carry on. =)

Just because you posted the link, and I know you have nothing to do with the tee...but do you (or anyone else) understand how a ball slowly swinging on a string, how, "This is replicating the timing of 90+ mph"? Cuz I sure as heck don't get it.

So if I swing twice as fast as it is in the clip (which wouldn't be that much faster, and what we used to do as kids messing around with a Wiffle ball tied to a tree limb in the park), would that be "....replicating the timing of 180+ mph"? I'm so confused.

In the gif posted, I noticed he (Trey Hannam) was the inventor of the sway tee. Has or does anybody use the sway tee. I have seen plastic ball hanging from the top of the cage employed at hitting clinic. Same idea. Thoughts.

I personally use Tanner Tees and attempt to minimize tee work. I tend to minimize tee work. I'll use a tee as a warm-up prior to hitting off of a live arm. Will also use tee work to introduce concepts. Rarely will I spend an entire session hitting off of a tee.
