Edmonds and Finlay

I thought we can dissect these two swings. Two very good hitters. Edmonds and Finley.

Look at how much earlier Edmonds starts to gather even though he has no stride. That's why I ask the question sometimes is there such a thing as starting to early. I know the answer is if rhythm is maintained, although I still ask the question sometimes with clips like this one.

With out showing the pitcher such as below:

Would be hard 'press' to say who gathers/starts earlier or not.

Another thing to look at is the similar hand starting position. Edmonds gets the hands back earlier and Finley hands continue to go back until they are pulled forward. Which affects the barrel, Edmonds has the barrel cocked more at launch or in the early part of the swing.

Very cool to see the swings side by side. Crazy how they start so different and finish the swing so similarly.
