I saw the "GURU" himself saying on twitter to swing down. He has done a total 180.

I couldn't believe my eyes.

I believe in the "feeling" of swinging down. The elbow lowers from the launch position to down, although the hands remain up. That feeling of the elbow lowering can translate into the swing down feeling.

And then theres the whole posture/swing-plane. That has a downward element.

So at bat lag , the book is basically saying there isn't turn the barrel (sell out the barrel from the top of the swing launch) like some advocate. Nice find . Correct me if I misread your post. When I hear turn the barrel I think unload the barrel via ulnar flexion (contact point). Get on plane is probably a better description then turn the barrel .imo

No, that would not be what is intended by "turn the barrel".

Just wondering, do you think Steve Englishbey is outdated when it comes to hitting?

It just so happens my book touched on the cue of connection. In the sense of what does it mean and how do you explain it in the swing? What do you tell the hitter if he's disconnected?

Englishbey's website is dead, his info is still good IMO.

For some reason my post didn't show up on my response.

I'll get back to you, but I do believe in swinging down to some extent or the feeling of swinging down.

I agree it feels down. But I have used stay on top with better results. Once direction and dynamic balance are established. It's pretty easy imo.

Just watch that video again and really listened. At about the 7 minute mark he says "Hands HAVE TO move back simultaneously when body advances forward. Thought?? My daughter is the one he next describes as "loads early and then advances eventually getting there early." Not sure why she would get there early, but she does. Very interesting.

I agree that there is a feeling at least (ultimately more stretching in the torso) of the hands moving back as the body advances forward.

My DD kinda coils(slow load) then advances (leaving he hands back) then plants and rotates. Does she need to coil and advance "simultaneously"? Stone says it a must. I am going to keep doing this drill and not make it a mandatory swing change. Just going to see if it happens naturally from doing the drill correctly. Don't want her thinking about it. She is already a very good hitter. Thoughts?
