We certainly see things differently.

I don't believe the torso lags behind what you are describing as "working the barrel around their forearm", etc. ... I believe the torso action leads ... I don't see the torso action as a 'result' of using the hands, more I see the hands being leveraged as a result of the correct torso action.

Gotcha, and I actually knew that was your point of view but during a moment senility, didn't make the connection. Thanks.

Gurriel's belt and barrel start turning before shoulders do. It's the hands and the rear leg doing the work and torso resisting.

Is the torso going for a ride IYO. In the Catapult System the spine engine and springy fascia power the swing. There is compressing of the spring which could be called resisting.

From everything I've heard and studied, it's naive to focus on a body part. the back leg, hands, hips, etc. The whole is more important then the sum. Not saying your doing that, just never understood how the torso resists. I think there is stability, for example the upper thorax, for the shoulders/arms to work against. But I don't think resisting is the same as stability.

Buttermaker,

Can you explain how the torso resists in an easy to understand manner?
Not Butter, however....

In a HL swing, do the hips, and shoulders turn forward at the same time?

If you say, "yes"...then I might suggest you look closer at HL hitters. If you say, "no"...then what turns forward first, and what prevents (or "resists") the other from turning forward at the same time?

The opposite and equal reaction is the hips opening and the shoulders closing. As far as your question I answered that in my response, the opposite and equal reaction,

Muscles. Abs/Obliques
Zackly...and whether one thinks it's right or wrong, the "torso" is used by some to mean the same thing as "Abs/Obliques" generally speaking. So to put it another way...

Question: "Can you explain how the torso resists in an easy to understand manner?"
Answer: "Muscles. Abs/Obliques (IOWs, the "torso").

Can you explain how that opposite and equal reaction is created...in an easy to understand manner? :)
