Dang it.

Okay on my incorrect.... I think I know what you mean. Want to know for sure I am on same page. Help me out here.

With the rebels rack, (having never tried one), I picture the rack making it impossible to make that hammering bottom hand type motion... the hand movement that I associate with the old "knob to the ball" type cue? In other words I picture the rebels rack possibly helping some players feeling the "turn the barrel" movement?

Does the front shoulder become moved during the swing?

Does the movement of the front shoulder result in a pulling on the handle?

Do you honestly want for the hands to 'torque' the bat handle before any contribution via the core that translates to a front-side pulling action?

( BECOME moved by launching the barrel via the hands..YES )

Does the movement of the front shoulder result in a pulling on the handle? ( No it shouldn't go first )

Wrong they lagged behind forever but recently have shifted what they teach DRAMATICALLY! This bold comment is not true at all! But as you say ...good on them for realizing that they were teaching poorly before. But hey they still took your money!

Didn't take any of MY money, lol!

I don't remember it that way but I guess I'm not the Smithsonian of hitting gurus.

Spin the shoulders IMO. Turn the barrel? Not so much!

The rebel rack is a great tool. BR does teach to turn barrel but the rack is not about what the hands do in the swing. It's about learning what the torso and legs do during the swing. The bat drag buster and line drive tool (tennis ball strapped to the bat gizmo, looks cheap but really helps with instant feedback) he sells are also good. And besides, do you know what the hand do during the swing? They hold on to the damn bat.LOL

Also could you explain this:

"but recently have shifted what they teach DRAMATICALLY!"

The only thing I know they amended was player must stand tall. Which was a good move.

The hands hold the bat? HUH!

BR has changed a lot!..They thought that sinking the knees was how you adjust to change ups.

The rebel rack does exactly what you described. And that's not good!

Take the hands out of it and spin the shoulders...NOT GOOD!

( And besides, do you know what the hand do during the swing? They hold on to the damn bat.LOL ) I DO BUT APPARENTLY YOU DO NOT !

It has been my experience(6-12 year olds) that every girl that is taught to "throw your hands or knob at the ball" cast the bat and has a long slow swing with no power that doesn't play well especially against faster pitching. And the ones that are taught leave your hand here and coil and uncoil hit bombs. Just saying

You can tell D Up is correct because he uses all caps, bold, and a larger font size. Those are convincing arguments.

In my experience, there isn't one way to teach a complex movement pattern like throwing or hitting that works with all players. What helps one kid connect the dots in their head might not help another. If the rack thingy works to help a kid feel a certain component of the swing, that's great. However, for another kid, it might be the wrong approach. As with any device or drill, the instruction that goes along with it is the most critical part.
