jryan15,

The hitters we look at in slo-motion have a physical intelligence. Just like there are musicians that have a musical intelligence. So to say or compare your average kid to these athlete as if they had identical physical intelligence, Is erroneous in a big way. Even people who can throw a ball 95 don't have the same physical attributes as a Bonds. They look like kids trying to hit a ball.

It's much bigger problem then a muscles group. Most don't use the core in the same manner as Bonds. Comparing your daughters swing to an elite level, it looks like she is all legs and arms and the core is not really used. That is just my observation of years of looking at elite hitters.

The core is a terrible thing to waste.

The entire lead lat pulling action is bypassed ... which is costly in multiple regards.

Seems you don't understand how things engage. The core is part of what loads the rear leg via coiling. My DD clearly coils well and it is that coiling action that brings her lead leg in and what twists her rear leg. Regarding the clip that you made, all of the frames except the last one are loading frames... The rear leg is turning a resisting torso, and the last frame where the arms blur is the launch frame. What else would be causing the movement seen prior to launch? It is not arms because her arms stay at the shoulder tip the entire time. News flash, it is the turning rear leg as the back muscles resist.

You seem to be looking a that Griffey clip as some kind of magical example of core engagement. Let me take the shroud off of it for you... When you see the arms plunge forward and down, that's called using the arms to swing, and just the fact that you picked that clip to try and support your weak argument is further proof that you are sitting at a monitor guessing. Post one of your students and show us what your experience leads to because anyone with real experience would not make the statements that you do.

As has been said before, when you haven't been able to create a video match, you guess at things. The lead lat pull is clearly a guess by someone who has not picked up a bat and swung to duplicate... By all means, post a single clip of you or a student making it happen. Just one....shouldn't be that tough as you've been at it for over a decade.

Too bad those two left all that power on the table by not shifting their core or they might have made a name for themselves as elite hitters...

Jyran, when it comes to a lack of understanding, it is you that seems to be missing a big part of the swing ... and it should be clear to anyone viewing the swing below.

There is huge room for improvement.

How one launches the swing is important.

Thw swing is not excellent. Im not saying a kid her age should be perfect. He follows Rich, this is a push for sure. Jryan if you kiss up to Rich im sure he will says ...its close....this is a late turn...a very bad hand path forward...push

I am not interested in hitting wars. What I see here is a swing that IMO is messed up.

What I perceive that Jyran is trying to teach appears to be taught in isolation of the core .... and that, IMO, is a mistake. He's not seeing, or understanding, the actions that I posted in the golf-related videos earlier.

Interesting that you use the word 'push' here ... that is pretty much spot on.

Lol, boys. Step up and post clips of your students and show me the light. DD's swing was used as an example of progress that is made by getting the glutes involved. It's a great swing, and I'll stand by it all day. A couple of you think it's not, that's cool. Everyone has an opinion, but those are just words on a screen and not proof of concept. Prove me wrong, post the results of your work for which to compare. There are plenty of HI clips to pull in as examples since we can see some of them on TV through the week...

True critics of HI should go back to the Judge thread and start posting how HI concepts screwed up his swing. Maybe if he introduces a lead arm lat pull, he'll get to 60 HR's :D.

Seriously FFS you are good at editing clips, should be no problem to blur out a face and show us your work. I don't know how many of your cult followers are aware that you got your training wheels installed at HI. Too bad you didn't stick around long enough to have them taken off.
