This is the "short hands" portion of the swing where the lead arm is put on plane with the ball ... i.e., the lead arm is being inspired to be a 'swinger'.

Do you consider there is lead arm stretch during this action? Meaning the lead arm isn't fully stretched until the swing is underway.

I suppose one could attempt to describe this with that feel. During this segment of the swing, forward movement of the hands is 'resisted' and the angle in the lead arm does not decrease.
