What gets the bat off of the shoulders is what turns the barrel, slots the elbow and get the barrel down to and up through the ball.
Slow-mo videos makes you see what you want to see. Not what actually happens in a HL swing.

Personally I believe that if slow-motion video doesn't back-up a theory, then that theory should be given further thought.

Seriously..........Do you swing a bat. Do you drop your elbow than TTB. You do know that 'slot'/drop elbow than TTB is 2 moves. The swing(TTB=turn the barrel forward towards the ball) slots the elbow. Apparently it's JMO.

Good stuff. My view is that one orbits the barrel, and the orbiting process, performed correctly, will have the rear elbow passing through an 'upright vee'.

Same question to you Shawn ..... What is happening to start the barrel arcing process?

In this case the barrel is moving downward first as the back elbow slots. Basically what Tewks teaches, it's a style, vertical barrel that moves down and backwards.

There is good bat lag created or separation as the barrel moves downwards and the back elbow moves downward. The setting up the hands as a rotation point is more important then how much the barrel is sent rearward.

If you start with a tipped/vertical bat the act of turning the crap out of the handle will flatten the barrel as it turns rearward. Bonilla & Brett both have barrels that are already flattened so you see just rearward arcing.

Nope.

The hands are a sensor though.

A lot of the action you are seeing is to give a feel in the hands .... it is not the hands that are causing the action.

What's in control? Are you talking about upstream movements? Momentum ?coil ? Stretch ?
To get on plane which is what we are talking about it has to be the hands and eyes. Hence hand/eye coordination . Please explain .

This is the "short hands" portion of the swing where the lead arm is put on plane with the ball ... i.e., the lead arm is being inspired to be a 'swinger'.
