I should have mentioned Jeter started to uncock early and then held the wrists/hands. It happens earlier then the Giles swing.

If you said that Jeter turned the barrel after he loss some the hinge angle, I would agree with that.

What sometimes gets lost in these discussions is that the more you learn to turn the barrel as a very first move the more you will swing around your rear leg and quicker your barrel will enter the hitting zone and the longer it will stay there.

Don't start to break the wrist as early as Giles and Jeter. Who must then fight it off by holding longer.

I like to focus on the forearms and hands to turn the barrel. The swing happens pretty quickly so you shouldn't have to worry about holding the hinge angle, unless there is a problem.

I think a hitter has to focus on swinging down and turning the barrel. Without the downward action things seem to unhinge too soon
