I should have mentioned Jeter started to uncock early and then held the wrists/hands. It happens earlier then the Giles swing.

Exactly my point. IMO both have a unique way of creating a running start. Then use a hinge angle that is different then 90 degrees (more open angle).

There is no faster/quicker way to get the barrel into the hitting zone and stay there a long time. Otherwise a hitter has to use their upper body to turn the barrel and do a drive by in and out the hitting zone. Or plunge the arms in a rescue effort to stay in the zone
Yes I would agree they use a different hinge angle. The barrel starts from a different angle.

What I see is a MLB player at a HR hitting contest having a huge hitch, cast, line up exactly with the ball and jack the 70mph meatball that i had to completely alter my swing to crush over the fence swing...if his game swing looks like this I would be surprised.
His BP pitching isn't throwing fast enough and he trying to wait on the ball while having to generate extra power on his own.

I'm with [MENTION=9236]FP26[/MENTION] I think what is making this (not Jeter but your example) look unorthodox is the early turn and hold...as I mentioned it looks like a hitch even though the swings stays moving because the hands stop doing anything and looks like everything is held in position until he releases. [MENTION=828]Shawn[/MENTION] do you have something besides a GIF might be interesting to see if on frame by frame I could compare to other model swings.
Just download the gif and use Quicktime to view frame by frame. Also Kinovea is a free analysis software that plays gifs as well as Quicktime.
Quicktime is nice because you can use the arrow keys to advance back and forth in the clip.
Yes he has to hold because of the early movement.
