Does the transfer of energy result from momentum or something else? A whip doesn't have muscles that can create energy in-between the segments. The whip is pure momentum transfer.

Can you post a GIF?

I know that ultimately you are talking about a batter's swing, but are you also trying to relate it to an actual whip?...Like an Indiana Jones Bull whip?

In between the segments?...
No that's not a baited question...what exactly are you talking about?
Is that the portion of the swing between the leg striding forward and landing, and the hands and bat coming around?

Thanks!

Most would refer to the hips, shoulders, and arms/bat as segments. The whip segments are the more massive part going to the smaller parts as segments. Segments can also be looked at as the most proximal to distal transfer. The proximal being the legs/hips and the most distal the arms/bat.

OK, gotcha...that's kinda what I figured

My youngest DD has problems with this right now...

I've been working with her alot on tying her lower half to her upper half.
It's slowing working, but it's taking some time.

Sometimes when she swings the bat, it's literally comical as to how separated her lower half and her top half are.

Is there lots of separation? Or little?

At times alot more than the GIF (OK, way more)
She sometimes separates as much as some of the Big Slow pitch hitters you see.

For my youngest DD, the Power Lifting is finally starting to pay off and she can feel she has oem power there
So she'll lunge forward with her left leg...then crank her torso around, with her core and lats...and by then her left elbow and hands have collapsed and are too far behind
So her big step, then twist results in her over twisting, and her hitting the ball with the end of the bat.

But the times when things all comes together, (which is more and more often) she really pounds the ball...(Yeah! Cage Bombs!) It's winter up here in NW MN

I'm trying to get her to see in cell phone video footage, or Coach's Eye, what's happening with her separation...she sees it, but sometimes has a hard time fixing it

Practice...practice...

I don't have Coaches Eye. Does it have frame by frame? I have Right View Pro and it can download pro swings. It has frame by frame and you can toggle forward and backwards. So you can see the best and your current swing.

Ooooh, I like the sounds of Right View!

With Coaches Eye you can take the video, and move the video forward and backwards frame by frame.

By only sliding your finger back and forth on a "timeline" on the bottom of the screen.

RVP has frame advance backwards/forward and like you said you can slide the timeline backwards and forward. It's really cheap and having the models is really helpful.
