Not sure if this is the proper forum but it's about hitting. Have any of you used Line Drive Nation to work with your dd? $20 a month for unlimited video analysis seems cheap enough and there are a lot of good before and after videos posted on their facebook page. Thinking about giving it a try, I've wasted money on worse things.

Sure you can post the videos in your thread. Not only will I analyze(view) I'll also give suggestions on what to work on(fix). And as an added bonus so will others.
How SWEET is that....

Here you go. We only recently started working on slotting the elbow and talked a little about turning the barrel. I messed up before by complicating things for her as a 7 year old and me not knowing what I was doing. For the most part I've let her swing away and just worked on hip turn, back knee drive and straightening the front knee at contact. I know there is plenty to fix but being 8 I think we have plenty of time to work on it. Thanks.

WRT the bold, IMHO you need to forget about all that junk. I believe focusing on all that other stuff will not allow someone to be a reactive hitter. What Crankermo wrote in another thread couldn't be truer IMO.

"The biggest thing we've always focused on was coiling into the backside and maintaining that coil until she was ready to unload by resisting with her hands against it i.e. turning the barrel with the hands. IMO the hands control the barrel and the upper half. It makes it less complicated for them instead of focusing on EVERY single aspect of the swing and turning them into robots.

People on these sites have a tendency to over complicate things by spitting out the new and hot lingo when it's just letting your body do what it wants. I could waste time and break down every single movement in the swing but to me it's waste of time and energy. The kids I work with I tend to let their bodies figure things out after you give them a good fundamental base to build off of.

That's just how I've approached it with Brooke and others and I've had good success that way but everyone is different"

Teach her to properly coil and to use her hands. As she gets older you can introduce her to new things.

Thanks. I tried working with her before on her coil and she just really struggled but maybe I gave up on it too soon. The things you bolded have helped her hit better in games recently but I will definitely defer to you guys that actually know what your talking about. We're starting team practice back up this Sunday so I'll start working with her on the things mentioned above. Again, thanks for the input.

Mike I am by no means a hitting guru. My suggestions are just from my experience with my own DD. I went down that road of trying to teach her the swing move by move and it worked really well and then the CHANGE UP came along and better ball placement and all of a sudden things weren't so great anymore. It took me almost 4 years to figure out when it comes to this stuff less is definitely more IMO. This forum is truly a great resource for people trying to help their daughters. My DD is starting her Freshman season of HS shortly and I am going to start a thread of tracking her progress through high school and I hope that you will contribute to it. I know it can seem rough on this site at times but remember there are no questions only stupid answers.

WRT to the topic of this thread, the one advantage of having a single hitting coach is that you only have to deal with one opinion. The possible disadvantage (other than cost) is that opinion may not be any good. Lots of good advice on this forum but often times people are saying the same things in different ways which can be confusing. You have to be able to interpret the comments in a way which makes sense to you so you can make it simple for your DD. I have found that at the age your DD and mine are at, lots of verbal instruction can be confusing and oftentimes counterproductive. Introduce a drill or two (feet together and hit drill for example) which, if done correctly, will produce the action you want without too much verbage. For example, right now I am having my DD do low tee work to try and get her bat path more diagonal vs. flat. If the bat path is good she should be able to hit the ball to the middle/top of the net. I am also
throwing a lot of low pitches in front toss with the same goal in mind.
