Play a lot of HR derby at this age. Tell to hit it as high and as far as she can. Ask her to self toss when you get too tired to pitch and you can shag balls

I'm not too familiar with Line Drive Nation other than some friends that have played around with it. They seem satisfied... The truth is that there are a lot of good sources out there, but there are even more 'not so good' sources. I think pattar stated it well in his post. Above all else, if you are going to take responsibility to help her, then you owe it to yourself (and to her) to develop an understanding of the various verbiage. I would also suggest trying some of the things yourself. Some people tend to think that there is only one 'holy grail' and anything else is doomed to failure. I do not share that opinion. But at the same time, attempting to combine various different philosophies without gaining a firm grasp of each first, will typically not end well. Good luck!

Yeah, I’ve increased my knowledge a ton over the last 1 1/2 years but have struggled to figure out who’s philosophy seems to work and who’s full of it. Seems to be a lot of terrible info out there to sort through. I’ve only been on this site for about a month but I really feel like you guys know your stuff. Some of it is probably too technical for an 8 yo but at least I see where we need to be in a couple more years. It’s especially nice seeing the videos and progress of other people’s dd in the videos you post. I’ve tried to keep it simple with mine for the last 7-8 months but sometimes I get off track.

Right Here For Now
Not sure if this is the proper forum but it's about hitting. Have any of you used Line Drive Nation to work with your dd? $20 a month for unlimited video analysis seems cheap enough and there are a lot of good before and after videos posted on their facebook page. Thinking about giving it a try, I've wasted money on worse things.

All I can say is the best hitting advice, whether technical or practical, can be found here for free. If you want to go pay and go against some of the top Hitting coaches in the country, go for it. Just remember, the comment, "hands to the ball," is wrong in SO MANY WAYS!;)

I did have her start doing self toss last year, usually at the end of practice. At first it frustrated her but then it became fun once she figured it out.

I've scrapped the idea, just curious about it but realize it would be silly with all the free advice on here. Thanks.

all i know is line drive nation posts some of the ugliest swings i've found on the interwebs......and that's their after videos lol

after seeing Matt a bunch, i took advantage of a $100 discount and got the coach's membership to the hitting vault......as a PE teacher, his approach really works for me, and it translates well to my kids......partly because his videos and teaching style makes sense to them, and, i suspect, partly because it makes so much sense to me, so i am able to teach it fairly well......

video analysis can be great.......but if it isn't presented to the player in a way that makes sense to them, and is positive and productive for them, it isn't worth a hill of beans........so i would say a lot depends on your working relationship with your DD and how well you can present what they tell you to work on......
