Well then, in this thread some folks may have learned that there is a COP about the rear foot and the front foot, and that there is a higher correlation with swing speed to the COP about the front foot than the COP about the rear foot. In your opinion, what movement is happening that leads to higher swing speeds, and thus by correlation, more COP about the front foot?

The shift of COP, from rear foot to front foot, powered by the coil and other resistance forces in the body, happening concurrently with the launch and execution of the swing - in other words...shift and swing.

If I follow this correctly then I might assume that you believe ... that greater pushes from the rear leg would lead to greater pushes from the front leg ... ... ... a model that Yeager was advocating at one point.

The reality is that the intensity levels about the rear foot do not correlate as well to swing speed, as do intensity levels about the front foot.

My recommendation here is that you consider the rear leg as a platform, and not as an active pusher that when intensified increases swing speed.

Your assumption would be incorrect. I didn't say anything about pushing, nor do I think pushing harder is the correct approach to increasing bat speed.

I always thought TM started the 'the race' from the command position. If so, wouldn't he already be at 'his platform'?

This is a good question. But, even a better question is: Does learning how to TTB establish a platform from which to swing?

That's an interesting way of looking at it. My understanding of HI is that the platform (my word) would be created as soon as all the slack is removed (HI words). The slack would need to be removed first, then you can TTB. Or hip slip and TTB together.... But I'm not an HI expert. That's just my view from pieces I have picked up along the way.

one of the main tenets is that the body will support the hands. If the hands are turning the barrel the body will support that. If the hands are pulling/pushing the barrel the body will support that as well
