Not sure if this was directed at my question but yes we do selftoss and its getting better as well.

I watch the boys swing in the cages and its inspiring to see the explosion they have in their swing. Most of the girls I coach dont have that.

A few girls I worked with have had an issue like that. Their swing was a "swing" - a long, slow-tempo, arc. I tried to instill in them not to "swing", but to "hit". Punch that thing hard! Part of the equation is making sure their mechanics are creating the resistance/tension that assists in being explosive.

Thanks for all the input everyone! So I'm gonna need to work on shift and swing , not bleed the coil. Basically by getting the lateral tilt ( turn the barrel ) at go, which should help the pull back and get her front leg working correctly ... correct me if I'm wrong . But this is what I have gathered from everyone's thoughts on this thread.

We are hitting tomorrow. I'm gonna video and see if I can convey this in one lesson. My verbal cues in my head are lateral tilt at go. Does this sound correct? Hope I'm seeing this the right way.

One more question for the gurus. When going forward in the swing , do you try to gain ground linearly, or is it just to set up momentum for your swing actions? Hope that makes sense.

Have you tried self toss for distance? And trying to progressively improve max distance? Hard to do without using the lower body or separating/sequencing properly.

OMG! THIS ^^^^^

If you aren't putting a unit of measure on the ball, how can you tell if you are making gains or not? Whether it's in distance, or mph on a Zepp.

Either on a standard fast pitch field or a men's softball field...go out there and have her hit, and mark the balls as they land and measure them, and keep a data log and see what works and what doesn't work.

We've been doing that and she is def hitting more to the outfielders to catch. She just isn't very explosive in her swing. Better but not where I thnk she could be.

Not the direction I would be going with my DD. Figuratively and directional. Watch the hands shows the problem(not 'walking away'). Hands forward, weight forward.....out of sequence. Again JMHO.

Aren't the hands suppose to stay back relative to body position . Not where they started in space ? Wouldn't that be an arm bar? Maybe I don't understand your comment .

You think your DD's hands stay back? They're(hands) not going forward as the body/weight is going forward.

No. I think your seeing her body going forward . Her hands are getting on plane with the pitch . Turn the barrel at go. Running start . I wish I could post a gif .

I will admit she doesn't conventionally 'float ' her hands .

https://youtu.be/icO35ob8BbA. Her hands don't stay back .
