Please someone show this to all of the Small Ball, Linear Hands, drive the ball into the dirt, coaches here in the Upper Midwest.

If your DD is 5'2" and 120 lbs...by all means drive it into the ground and run like hell...

But if the girl has the size and power to consistently hit it to the fence, or over the fence...?

Can someone please show me, and prove to me that this article does NOT pertain to Fastpitch!

Thanks for posting the link!

Not here.
If your DD is 5'2" and 120 lbs.
What if your DD is 5'2'' and 120 lbs and is incapably of hitting the long/HR. Then what.....Teach her to hit long ball fly balls.
All I'm putting out that not all hitters are going to be able to hit it over the fence. Maybe their 'launch angle' doesn't need to be so steep.
How about line drives for some hitters and long balls for some hitters and on the ground(slappers) for some hitters.
I'm not sold on 'steep' attack angles all the time for softball hitters. There are different pitch angles for baseball( down), then for softball(upward at times)
Just something I've been thinking about.....

Yes, yes and...yes...

What you wrote is exactly what I'm advocating.
One size does not fit all!

What I'm getting at is that up here, the girls that are capable of being power hitters, (whether from size, strength, and proven at bats) are being taught to be small ball hitters.
Not slappers, but linear hand, small ball, "hit it in the dirt, and run like hell" hitters.

It's my opinion that if a line up consists of girls with various sizes, strengths and speeds, their batting styles should mirror that.
i.e.. 2.7 speed and 120 lbs...slap away, or small ball it.
But don't tell me the girls that are 5'9"+, 170 lbs+, built like a linebacker and can hit the ball 270'+, should be taught to hit it into the ground.
Please Michael Lotief, tell them they are nuts to teach someone who could be, or is, a power hitter, to hit it into the dirt! (pretty please)

I really don't think you guys realize how bad it is up here.

Ireland had the Small Pox Plague...
The Upper Midwest has the Small Ball Plague...:D

I truly believe this is a regional teaching/coaching tactic.
I watched countless SEC, ACC, PAC and other Conferences over the last several years...
Each batter comes up to bat , and it's like a box of chocolates man...you don't know what you're gonna get.
Slappers, base hitters, and HR hitters with many different skill sets to get the ball over the fence, if they have the size and skills.

S3 - My guess is that these are coaches who think there are different swings for fastpitch and baseball, watch a TVs that have rabbit ear antennae, and wrote off the internet as a fad that would soon pass.

If their learning hasn't evolved already, it probably isn't going to any time soon. Best advice is to beat their teams soundly and hasten their retirement.
