Yes, pitiful is a nice way to put it. If the swing was natural and then it should work on him, then his swing wouldn't be so pitiful.
The whole idea behind just giving the torso directions (how to move like giving N W S E directions) to move and that will result in a natural swing is a little far fetched.
Now that I know how important the backside is in swing. Spinning on the front foot, torso spinning, will result in the weight to far on the front foot. Just like in the swing he demonstrates.
One thing I agree with with Sean is torso awareness. Another thing he said was the legs are attached to the torso and the arms, it's not the torso attached to the legs/arms.
You should treat the torso just like the arm/legs and give it just the same attention. Treat it as a limb and develop more awareness/

I faintly recall Sean giving a demo ... I believe it was with respect to inside & outside pitches ... and what I recall was that he was fairly clueless.
