Do both of those hitters always do a double toe tap, or is that just there homerun derby swing? Bonds does more of just getting up on his toes then strides, and Sosa actually steps a little backwards then strides.

I'm not seeing a "double" toe tap, just a toe tap.

Yes they both used the toe tap in the game as well.

The pause is the launch position. Sosa has the hands higher and away from his body to start and then brings them down and in to reach the launch position. While Bonds has the hands lower and then raises them to reach the launch position. While the ideal launch position is at toe touch such as Bonds, the foot can still be in the air such as Sosa. Side by Side you can see them prepare the launch position, taking different paths to arrive in the same position.

A double toe tap would probably be the wrong terminology especially for Bonds. Sosa actually steps backwards first, then strides into toe tap. I went and watched some YouTube highlights and both hitters do the same thing in the GIF as they do in live hitting.

Yes they both do the same thing or did the same thing in a game. If you want to see more game swings just ask, I have a ton of clips of both hitters,

You have to remember that the toe tap is done early before release. Timing it is no different then timing getting your weight back without a toe tap. They are just getting the weight back or starting the coil.

We don't get to see all of Sosa gathering against the back side in this clip. Part of him getting the weight back is missing in the clip, the clip starts as he is stepping back. So we don't see all of his gathering action.
