Note that the angle in the leadarm is being maintained here ... which allows the swing to connect/springboard off of the bodies rotation.

I wish that clip was complete and not just showing the kinetic link. The hips have already started in this clip and there can be some finishing stretching in the lead arm as rotation starts. I would agree with you and the logic behind the lead arm being maintained. We just don't have all the pieces in this clip.

I've always loved Edwin's swing. Here's all 39 in 2015. One thing I noticed is Edwin is completely square with the pitcher on almost all 39 home runs, hips, shoulders all square with the pitcher at contact. on the outside pitches he just seems to tilt a little more, but he's still square
