My daughter is a very good hitter, but could be really good if she wasn't a knob to the ball step swinger. Every instructor in central fl seems to teach the same thing. Pull the knob. Ugh.

A father teaching a Teenager is soooo hard. Almost impossible, but I want her to learn to turn the barrel. We attempted again last night off a tee. I know she's not executing it from the start, but the plane looks less steep.

I really have no idea how to teach this stuff and I worry I may hurt more than help.

What is she trying to do with the initial movement before she resets? Is that a drill?

Biggest issue I'm seeing (not going to address the shoe selection and movement before swinging) is she is laying the bat flat almost right after her first move forward.

On a side note she needs to stay inside her rear leg when coiling (which she is more or less just rocking or swaying back) but she is what we would call on or over her rear leg instead of inside it.

P.S. If you compare to what is happening in your video link notice how when he makes that first move to turn the barrel at 3:00 in video lesson it does not actually lay flat it does not actually get flat until well into the swing

Like this or the tewks barrel turn. Flatten to turn barrel, but at go. Not flatten then turn.

If you are going to do something like that, and not saying you should, I would go with this instead:

Trying to force getting barrel depth like that, without worrying about the upstream stuff which gets you there, is probably not a good idea. People have
some issues with the above posted drill as well so use at your risk...

I actually don't think her initial move back with the barrel is that bad. However, I do think the swing (and with it the barrel path) might be improved if she built up more stretch/resistance in her upper body, e.g. more walking away from her hands and resisting of her lower body turn.
