His definition of early whoosh doesn't seem so early and the kid still is pushing some. As Butter and FFS have mentioned, his instruction seems to be missing the part regarding turning the barrel with hands/forearms regardless
of how one thinks the elbow slotting is initiated. Seems to be missing TMs second engine in his instruction

The folding in of the lead arm in those swings is horrible.

So how do you prevent the steep swing? Wish there was video of someone teaching a kid to turn the barrel. Relaying it to my kid has been difficult.

The steepness of the swing should be based on the height of the pitch. Steep isn't necessarily bad. Use the search bar and search barrel turn, there have been many good threads on the topic over the years.

Snap Stops....Have DD get in front of a mirror and do this.....Turn the barrel from 12 o'clock to 6 o'clock. Work on creating immediate bat speed. Turning the barrel rearward. Adduct the rear humorous and supinate the rear forearm simultaneously. If the hands start approximately 6-10 inches from the rear shoulder they should be approximately the same distance away at the conclusion of the snap stop. I often tell kids imagine a pole running through their hands and through their rear shoulder. Hands remain relatively consistent in relation to the shoulder, the barrel pivots around them. (Creating a Hand Pivot Point) Next put a ball on a tee and perform snap stops. Some helpful cues for me have been "back elbow replaces the front elbow, front elbow works up", "turn the triangle", "knob to nose". I think these are a staple when learning to turn the barrel........

To get the "feel" I just think its easier to learn on "low stuff" So we hit golf balls with golf clubs and we hit baseball/softballs off gatorade bottles after you get the "feel" then you can work your way up

And get ready to trot to first while your pop up is being caught. The front side is wrong

This is a demo of how to turn the barrel with a fused torso. How to eliminate bat drag/push/pull. Just a demo. Looks like he just standing with his feet about a foot apart....

Yeah I got that but what I am specifically talking about his front elbow. I like the way he is turning the barrel except it looks like he is racing a little bit. I don't think the rear elbow should ever get in front of the hands. Carry on, I usually don't comment in this thread, just like reading
