Yeah, I'm not sure I understand what inertia is being overcome, but the reason I asked the question was that you said that you saw, "pivoting, oar lock effect and the hands just being a rotational point", and was just wondering what it was that you saw "pivoting [around the] oar lock effect and [what it was] the hands [were] just being a rotational point [of]".

So while it could possibly argued that the barrel might not be "snapping rearward" depending on one's definition of "snapping", but if you introduce the other above aspects stated, then I'm curious what it is that is pivoting/turning around them.

Yes, when viewing slow-mo swings. Have to remember that a swing in real time happens real fast, or better happen/turn fast

Yes, the slo mo makes a difference. In the swings I posted the barrel is still lagging back as the lower body (hips) is underway. So the discussion on turning the barrel from the start while the barrel is still lagging back, when comparing slo mo is a hard sell. Although I can buy that you attempt to turn the barrel from the start even if video doesn't support the idea.

If you're/hitter is NOT 'turning the barrel forward towards the ball' from the 'start'. What is the hitter doing. I hope not moving the hands forward.

Maybe because the barrel is turning rearward(underway) as the lower body was 'underway'.

Video does support it whether you want to believe it or not. I'm just pointing out that slow-mo video has some thinking that it may support what they think is happening in the swing. Not saying you are wrong or right just saying be careful of slow-mo videos. Again JMHO.

whether you like the idea of turning the barrel forward or backward the barrel is getting turned by the hands/wrists/forearms. The body is NOT turning the barrel

Even Ted Williams spoke of the arc of his barrel as compared to other hitter's swing arc.

The bat is not pulled along the length of the bat ... pressure to the handle is largely applied orthogonal to the barrel.
