Not here.
Slow motion video may cause you to see movement that may not be happening the way you think it may be happening while viewing it in slow-mo. I'm hoping that makes some sense.
Sorry not taking this bat/barrel path to a ball in this zone. Opinion without known the intent of this drill:

I'm guessing I'd like to 'square' this ball up with the 'meat' of the a barrel.

Since the Hanson Principle is being mentioned here I wonder how many think these two clips are creating the same action? One is momentum based with a push and one is snapping the barrel. First clip has giddy up. This is what I was referring to in my previous post regarding the Hanson Principle.

I can't speak for everyone, but one person voiced a concern that they don't see what is being demonstrated in those clips as being part of the MLB swing. That is why clarification was requested. The answer of poo pooing the Hanson Principle likely wasn't encouraging to that person.

Enter the strawman...

Please explain to me how you can even come close to a conclusion like that. In my opinion I don't think there has been anyone better at seeing video than Teach has demonstrated over the last 17 years on these boards. I don't think he over uses slow motion video.

Sounds like you are suggesting that what HI is teaching isn't part of how the best hitters swing a bat.

Rdbass, if someone instructs players saying that I'm teaching the X portion of the swing today ... and you go home and can't find X to be part of the swing as you view video ... then don't you think that person has a right to scratch their head regarding the legitimacy of X? I do.

Great ... so let me repeat the earlier question ...

I personally believe that TM is after a particular action. I believe what Julray is looking for is what that action is and where is that particular action seen in the clips of the pros that he looks at.

My point was to show him (and any newbies lurking) how the Hanson Principle can be easily be mistaken for... (your words Five) "a tool to help a player filter in potentially good information."

Although the clips may look the same, they are vastly different.

I am not saying that you posted the clips together suggesting they were the same, Five.

IMO Julray is right to question things.

He’s seeing what appears to be instruction to make contact with the barrel rotating perpendicular to the axis of rear forearm. In that instruction the functionality of the lead arm is not correct. Losing the functionality to the lead arm gives rise to a host of issues regarding core usage. What we see here is not what Julray sees when he analyzes the swings of the pros. So he questions things ... as he should ... because he's trying to help his daughter by collecting good information and filtering out bad information.

And back to my first reply. I was replying in part to Ray's post #170 regarding the Hanson Principle.

Exactly, and imo julray should be very careful trying to apply the Hanson Principle and comparing video to his daughter.

Just so I get this correct.

The reply to .... I believe what Julray is looking for is what that action is and where is that particular action seen in the clips of the pros that he looks at. ..... with the reply being essentially that the folks teaching this don't like the Hanson Principle.

If so ... then that speaks volumes IMO.
