Very little barrel being turned. In fact there is more pulling the barrel downwards then there is arcing. This is why I posted the clips, there seems to be a issue with what is called turning the barrel and actual barrel being turned from the start. If you would say the barrel isn't turned from the start, then that I could see. Or if you said the barrel being turned from the start was a feel thing, I could buy that as well.

IMO, it depends what you consider "turning the barrel". I see hand torquing very early in this clip. That's what I am looking for...

Shawn, are you serious in that you cannot see the barrel movement before the shoulders moving?

I just wanted to see what others considered barrel turned. I take it that the little movement being shown is considered barrel turn IYO, Thanks fr sharing YO. The movement is small in the clips I posted throughout this thread, so I wanted to better understand what is barrel turned from the start.

I can see when a hitter check swings they are turning the barrel and stopping the action. I just wanted to see what is considered barrel being turned. The clips I posted show very little barrel movement at the "start" of the swing. So I was trying to get a better understanding of barrel turning action.

No worries. Watching in slo mo - you can clearly see the top hand turning away from the lead elbow. In real time you wouldn't see that. Moving in real time to show it slo mo you better be using the forearms/wrists to turn the barrel immediately.

I feel like you have to be very careful when analyzing slow motion video. You can be deceived. You cannot tell where the "giddyup" is. IMO it is much easier putting a full speed clip in quicktime alternating between full speed and frame by frame to analyze....

Spartans21,

I like watching swings at full speed as well. I just wanted everyones thoughts on the subject. At the point shown in the clips I posted some would call this max separation. At the start of the swing there is overcoming inertia of the bat. So there is some movement, but not allot at the start of the swing.

Your better hitters know how to incorporate their large core muscles into their swing … leading to a consistent and powerful swing.
