DD was switched from a right handed hitter to a left handed slapper in the fall. Now she wants to learn to swing away from the left side. She has been working on the tee and batting cages for a couple of weeks now. To help her out, I've been trying to learn what I can about proper swing mechanics but I am having a hard time applying what I learn to her actual swing. If someone would be kind enough to critique her swing that would be much appreciated!

Not here.
I would like to see her right hand swing but, seeing her left hand swing I'd switch back or go to Murphy because he claims to have a hitter signed with Baylor:p

Well, Kansas City is a bit out of the way since we are in Wisconsin! So are you saying her swing is so bad that you think she should just give up? She is doing well with the slapping part because of her speed, but the coach occasionally wants her to bat right handed when he feels the situation calls for more power. The idea was to learn to swing away left handed in these situations to keep the defense off balance. She has been only at it for a couple of weeks, but at 13 years old maybe it's too late.

DD1 didn't start hitting from left till 16. Switched for first year - BA higher on left - we think she sees the ball better. Second year worked all winter on power. Emphasis on hitting. She wasn't turned into a slapper. I think her coaches started to break her from some habits and she was willing. It can be done - can't answer should it be done. DD1 now a college D2 player. College camp coach back in HS wasn't impressed that she could "switch" - she picked the left and the rest is history.

My DD switched to left at 13. It takes time and a ton of reps. But, if she wants it she needs to go full lefty, no switching back and forth. It's not too late but to be honest it wil take about a year before everything clicks all the time. DD was switched thinking she'd slap most of the time but she now has so much more power than she had as a righty so she almost never slaps anymore

Not saying it's to late. Just asked to see a right hand swing. Anythings possible..

Like another poster stated 'go all lefty' or go home.
Most that switch back and forth become a hitter that can and does/will strike out from both sides of the plate.

I see possibilities given the brief time hitting from this side. Some things that stand out for me. Look at the front hip. I'd work on a better load since a part of her swing looks like she is spinning and not loading and unloading. Secondly, I don't see any resistance on the backside. Take my comments for what they are worth. I'm not an expert and haven't done much with any hitters. Just a dad.
