Finally pulled the old iPhone out to get a video of her in-game swing.
Need to work a little more on pulling the hands back during her stride, but other than that, any thoughts on what my 8 year old can work on? We've been working on finishing higher, as well, and she has been, but hard to tell with this being a pitch around the eyes!

Two easy things to start with not having her first movement be hand drop down with the bat (this is where she would go back as you suggested) number two I can't be sure but if you look from the other angle I guess is back elbow is leading the hands.

I would not stress a whole lot just slow work on a few things

Ya, we've been working on the hand movement. Does well on the tee and front toss when I'm there to remind her, but it gets lost a bit in live hitting.

Thanks for the input.

Do lots of front toss. Building muscle memory while hitting moving balls will translate to game swings much quicker.

Save the tee for when you want to focus on a specific feeling, and timing and location adjustments are a distraction from the lesson. Even consider hitting the top of the tee with no ball. Our tendency is to judge the quality of a swing based on ball flight. If you're working on a specific mechanical component, keep the focus on that component. Once the mechanics are in place, results will take care of themselves.

Good idea on the tee with no ball. I'll have to incorporate that.

She's swinging it pretty good right now, and I'm happy with her lower body movement at the moment. So just going to focus on the hand sequencing and barrel path for now.

Looks good for 8U. My 7 year old daughter has a similar barrel path. I can get her to clean it up on the tee but anytime the ball is moving she has a tough time. One quick question/comment which may help some. Is this machine pitch or kid/coach ? Either way, although hard to tell without the full picture, it looks like she is starting her swing sequence when the ball is halfway to the plate. If she starts earlier she may be able to slow down her loading which could help
with her barrel path.

Machine Pitch, which plays all kinds of funny games with girls timing!
