So our coach's have a strict policy that you are expected to be at the ball park for practice or games on the stated time, which I agree. The issue is they are not there. Example. Be at the park at 4:00 for a 5:00 game time. One shows up at 4:30 the other 5:00. ALL and I mean AlL the parents are mad cause they are rushing, leaving work etc.. to get there kid there but the coach's are not. Parents are speaking up and the coach's are getting smart and making comments during games. It's getting ugly and about to hit the fan. Any thoughts?? My thought is you should be held to the same standard you had your players too.

There is no way a coach should be setting a time for players to be there that is before when they can get there. If you can't be there till 4:30, make arrangements for someone else to be there that is part of the coaching staff or tell your players to be there at 4:30 also.

Side note: this should probably be in the "Being a Softball Parent"

How strict can the policy be if they can't even adhere to it?? Is this an every game occurrence? For something like this, parents should speak up.

It's been probably 40% if games and yes they are speaking up. Coach's are making smart rear remarks when parents are speaking up. I plan on talking to them today as it's getting out of control.

So Cal
I don't care if it's school ball, rec ball, or travel ball. If you (a coach) ask your players to be at/on the field at a certain time for a team event, you had better be there to get them doing the things they need to be doing. If you can't, then make sure there is someone else to handle things for you until you get there. Anything less than that is disrespectful of the commitment you have asked your players (and their parents) to make to the team.

and if for some reason the coach is not there there is NO WHINING and NO COMPLAINING.

I was usually there but prepping the field the kids knew what to do. 45 mins out on the baseline easy tosses for 5 to 10 mins to warmup and give late comers time, then everyone take a lap, then circle warm ups, I would make sure to let staring pitcher to start throwing on side, if I'm not there both pitchers warm up, there is a routine and your captain should be leading, if you don't have a captain you'll find out who it is pretty quickly by who steps up and gets everyone going.
