Thanks for posting this, W=w. I agree that longer would have been just fine, especially related to hitting intent, mechanics, feels, etc.

Exactly Eric F! A little more about his planing ,stretch, maybe a little about the outside pitch and how he doesn't think hands for hitting that location. I'm curious about that feel . He always talks about the high inside and nothing about the low away(hardest pitch to hit imo).

In the shorter video he talks about his bat getting 'level', that's when he gets to the corner. From that corner he can go inside, middle or outside.

What Donaldson is saying is not groundbreaking. It's what a lot of people have been saying, but he's able to explain it because he's lived it and figured it out. "Coaching" is atrocious for the most part. Now with YouTube and thousands of other "coaches" giving opinions it muddies the water. Kids who develop into adults with the wrong coaching have a long way to go to correction. He did it himself and learned what suits him instead of listening to the same old clowns preaching knob to the ball, hands inside, knees bent, elbow up, doorknocking knuckles, ......... It's so regurgitation.

Everyday I see "coaches" who have never played past coach pitch baseball giving instructions on how to hit a simple fastball low and away. It's laughable and a major disservice to the children that are listening

Playing the game and coaching the game are different.

Some of the most successful coaches out there have not played the game.

Mike Candrea didn't play the game, yet has been a successful softball coach.

Bottom line ... learn the game ... and keep learning about the game. Far too often I've seen former players become coaches that assume they already know the game and don't take the time to learn the game in more depth.

While being a former player is a plus, it's no excuse for not diving in and continuing to learn.
